What is a construction senior estimator job description?
The Senior Estimator is responsible for the preparation of thorough, accurate and timely estimates for public and private sector projects ranging from $500K to $15m. In addition, the Senior Estimator will use personal experience in construction means and methods to support operations in achieving project safety, profitability and quality goals. The Senior Estimator will work with accounting to ensure contract documents, billing, and expenditures are properly managed.
Essential Functions:
Identifies new business opportunities and projects to bid
Develop thorough, timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents
Assign and monitor the activities of other estimators when necessary
Participate in industry networking events
Contact subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty service companies for RFPs
Manage Change Orders and Extra Work requests
Process contracts, bonds and insurance certificates
Prepare cost estimates and bid documents for construction projects or services that are used by management in preparation of the bidding process
Act as a resource to project management during the award and start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience
