What is a Construction Human Resources Generalist job description?
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for assisting the HR Director in Compensation and Benefits Administration, Recruitment, Compliance and general employment related duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Benefit Administration:
New Hire enrollments in health, health savings accounts, dental, life, supplemental life, disability insurance, 401(k), and accident insurances.
Monthly reconciliation and invoice approval of employer and employee paid benefits.
Bi-Annual Health Savings account and interim deposits.
Coordination of life and disability claims processes.
COBRA administration
Assist with the annual open enrollment process
Interface with payroll to ensure payroll deductions are accurate and mirror coverage selected
Coordinate Wellness program design and execution
Update and maintain benefit information and forms
Assist in annual benefit design changes and updates
Coordinate benefit benchmarking processes including responding to surveys.
Serve as a resource to employees on benefit troubleshooting and questions.
Compensation Administration:
Assist payroll in wage determination process related to various local union wage and fringe packages
Coordinate compensation benchmarking process including responding to surveys and updating compensation structure
Assist in annual bonus plan coordination
Assist in the annual raise determination and adjustment process
Coordinate Field premium pay plans
Coordinate new hire payroll set-up process.
Serve as a back-up to Payroll and Benefit Coordinator
Coordinate annual Total Compensation letter design and delivery
Responsible for updating and creating job descriptions
Communications:
Design, develop and maintain HR Intranet information and forms.
Assist in employee newsletter content development
Assist in facilitating various employee meetings
Coordinate HR program promotion and communication
Compliance/Policy Development:
Assist with ongoing employee handbook policy updates
Provide policy interpretation to employees
Assist in supporting various company audits
Coordinate EEO and Affirmative action programs
Respond to various record releases and employment verifications
Employment/Recruitment:
Coordinate staff level recruitment campaigns, including advertisement, resume/application tracking and review, interview coordination and participation, reference checking, offers and rejection process.
As needed coordinate pre-employment testing.
Coordinate applicant inquiries and communication
Develop external relationships with universities and trade schools.
Coordinate employment benchmarking and maintain performance measures.
Employee Relations:
Assist managers with coaching, disciplinary actions and employee development
Coordinate employee social events design, planning and execution
Assist with employee survey process
HR Department Development
Assist in HR and Corporate Strategic Planning processes
Assist in HR budget and maintenance processes
Maintain and update HR related performance measures
Design and develop HR Procedure documentation
Maintain and track various employment related information
Performance Management:
Assist with employee goal setting and performance evaluation processes
Assist with administration of employee evaluation software
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
2-3 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience
Prefer a 2 or 4 year degree in Business Administration/Human Resources or related field
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with employees at all levels
Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to understand broad HR issues
High proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to establish a high level of trust and credibility within the organization
Ability to travel 15-20% of the time to various job sites throughout the U.S.
