If you are obtaining interviews and are being told your salary is too high after you have been interviewed, make sure to ask what they consider a fair market price and if you are being offered the job.

If you can accept their fair market figure, let them know you are very interested in their position and will consider the offer since money is not your primary motivation.

If the figure is too low, then you need to communicate to the employer that although money is not your primary motivation, you will need more than the present offer. You should also move on to pursuing higher paying employers.

If you are not able to get interviews due to your high salary level, then speak candidly with the potential interviewer to find out if the reason for being disqualified is in fact your salary level or if there is more to it.
