Job Description
The Business Development Director (BDD) will be charged with developing new revenue opportunities. The primary target market for this activity is lawyers, mostly Partners in the region's top law firms. Secondary and tertiary targets are corporate counsel and corporations in verticals that correspond. The BDD will build relationships and engage in activity designed to generate qualified leads, which will then be closed by NCI practitioners with support from the BDD. The position will require supporting our national business development outreach initiatives, which will require the BDD to initiate and organize meetings and phone calls with prospects, prepare letters and email, participate in preparation of sales collateral, and will require substantial phone and meeting skills.
Candidates will have excellent academic credentials, as well as demonstrated writing, phone and meeting skills. Advanced degrees, such as JD or MBA, and/or prior sales or business development experience are all a plus, but no one of these absolutely required. Candidates should have a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. Experience working in either law firms or consulting firms is a plus, but also not required. The candidates should be highly motivated, meticulous and energetic and willing to work within in a team structure. The job requires close attention to detail, including careful record keeping with regard to all sales activity.
