What is Construction Assistant Chief Estimator Job Description ?
The Assistant Chief Estimator is responsible for supporting the Chief Estimator in all phases of the estimating and bidding process including performing estimate takeoffs, compiling the estimators takeoff reports, obtaining vendor and subcontractor quotes, completing all of the requirements of bid forms and proposals, and insuring their accuracy and timely delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Works at the direction of, and in conjunction with the Chief Estimator.
Sets high work standards and professionalism example for the estimating staff.
Performs supervisory functions as a leader of the estimating staff, including planning directing and coordination of activities required to complete bids. Motivates and directs the estimating staff to apply the time and effort required to complete the bids accurately and on time.
Is responsible for reading and complying with all bid package documents, and insuring that all bids are prepared in a manner consistent with those documents, i.e.: instructions to bidders, scope narratives, plans, specifications, etc.
Is responsible for the preparation of bid proposals, including all content asked for in the request for proposal. Insures that proposals are completed with good professional quality.
Performs estimating functions, including performing takeoffs using the Quickpen estimating systems.
Maintains vendor & subcontractor lists, obtains quotations and insures compliance with plans and specifications requirements.
Is responsible for insuring accurate material pricing by working with the Purchasing Manager to maintain current pricing and material multipliers.
Is responsible for keeping all estimating systems updated and current.
Is a custodian of bid documents and estimating files, and insures their safekeeping.
Is responsible for timely submittal and receipt of Union relief requests.
Is responsible for advising the Chief Estimator of any systems or personnel problems, and works with Chief Estimator to resolve them.
Maintains a professional manner in actions and appearance when representing UMEC and the estimating team in internal and external meetings.
Works with Chief Estimator, VIPs and President/CEO on details of bid crew rates, labor multipliers, general & administrative costs and markups, and proposal content. Obtains review and final approval from appropriate executive manager prior to submitting bid proposals.
