What is VP Design & Construction Job Description ?

The VP Design & Construction has company-wide responsibility for overseeing the planning and execution of all Design & Construction projects, whether new construction, renovation or expansion, as well as leading the Design & Construction Department in support of the companys current and future operations.

Provide strategic leadership to the Design & Construction Department
Assemble, organize and oversee a team of internal design and construction experts and external resources to provide excellent design and construction services in support of the business
Identify innovative opportunities that enhance the quality of, decrease the cost of, and reduce time to complete construction projects.
Ensure uniform quality, schedule and budget for all design and construction projects for the corporation.
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agency-required guidelines.
Act as liaison, communicator and facilitator between internal "partners" and service providers such as retail, food and beverage and information technology.
Meet on a regular basis with senior operations executives, property general managers and other property personnel to communicate projects status and proactively solicit feedback regarding customer satisfaction levels.
Maintain and communicate budget, cost estimate and cost-to-complete information in a complete and timely fashion to all project team members and other constituencies throughout the duration of projects. Document budget and schedule variances to principal clients and management.
Understand and remain currently informed as to the recommendations for insurance proposed by Harrah's Risk Management for each element of the projects.

An Engineering degree or other relevant degree is required along with fifteen or more years of successful experience. An MBA is desirable.

Minimum 15 years leadership in design and construction. Requires excellent communications, consulting and influencing skills. The successful candidate must possess a strong intellect, exceptional leadership skills, and business savvy. Extensive travel is required
