What is Senior Construction Manager Job Description ?
Job Overview
The position of Senior Construction Manager is to be the senior manager of a newly formed general contractor construction company, which at first will be dedicated to building homes. Therefore, initially the Senior Construction Manager will be located in construction trailer offices as the jobsite. Later, it is anticipated that the company will branch out and construct homes for other clients. As Senior Construction Manager of this new construction company, it is expected that the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of supervising the construction of homes including the planning, budgeting, hiring of subcontractors, scheduling and assuring the quality control. It is also anticipated that the Senior Construction Manager will have a small staff of an administrative assistant/bookkeeper and one or two construction assistants. Most all of the actual construction work will be performed by subcontractors.
Compensation will be most competitive for the right candidate, including profit or equity participation that could be very lucrative.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have extensive cold weather, mountain home construction experience building comparable high-end, custom homes with log or timber post and beam construction in other notable ski resorts in the West. This experience must be at a project supervisor or general contractor level, not at just a specific trade level. He or she should have very good general management skills including excellent people skills and strong organization and planning skills. This person should be very comfortable with all the quantitative aspects of this job required for proper bid analysis, budgeting, construction measurements, etc. This person should also be comfortable with a personal computer for email, electronic photography and word processing. It would be most helpful to have a candidate with relationships with subcontractors in the vicinity that would be able to work in Big Sky. Finally, it would be helpful to have a candidate who has been in start-up operation and is comfortable in taking something that does not exist and making it happen with his self-motivation.
