Pre-employment Testing & Assessment Evaluation Questions

How to ask for a construction salary raise?

After working at the same job for some time most people feel that they deserve a raise in pay. Just because you think you deserve a raise doesn’t mean that anyone else agrees with you. It is important to have a plan of attack when going after something like a raise. The first thing to do is to check with people in a similar field as you to see how much the average raise is. If you go in asking for too much or too little they will either think you are greedy and egotistical or that you have no self worth. After getting that information sit down with a pen and paper and list any and all of your accomplishments and contributions to the construction employer. It is a good idea to have an appointment made to speak with your superior so that they know you are concerned about something and would like to discuss it with them. When the time comes to speak with them assess what kind of mood they are in. If they have had a bad day just forget about asking for a raise and try to have a nice relaxing conversation with them. Also try to avoid asking for a raise if you know that the construction employer is having a rough patch because asking for a raise then will make you look like a greedy construction executive who doesn’t care about the well being of the construction employer or your co-workers.
