Enporion is software and Services Company that assists its customers in reducing the cost of their supply chain through both process and price savings.

Strategic Sourcing
Developed, executed and maintained category sourcing plans for categories including Office Supplies, Computer Hardware, Computer Peripherals, Software, Telecommunications Services.

Led project teams of up to 30 sourcing managers, analysts, and administrative support from seven electric and gas companies to complete over $200M in aggregated contracts for various commodities including wire and cable, pipe valves and fittings, wood utility poles, computer equipment and office supplies. The resulting contracts generated in excess of $5M in contract commissions for Enporion and delivered an average of 8% savings to customers.

Managed a group of strategic sourcing managers and support staff at Progress Energy to source $200M in annual spend for commodities including MRO materials, high voltage circuit breakers, and steel transmission poles. This engagement included training of buyers on strategic sourcing practices and negotiations and produced savings in excess of $10M annually.
Led negotiations with a major steel distributer for a $100M aggregated annual contract for plate and sheet steel. The resulting contract provided for a vendor stocking program which allowed Enporion customers to guarantee a one week lead time and competitive index based pricing in a volatile metals market.

Standardization
Led teams of up to 25 engineers and purchasing managers from six large electric and gas utility companies to standardize material specifications for key commodities. Successfully implemented joint specifications for commodities such as polyethylene gas pipe and electrical distribution insulators. The polyethylene gas pipe standardization and follow-on sourcing initiative resulted in the largest single order (in excess of $30M annually) for polyethylene gas pipe in North American history and provided in excess of 5% customer savings and higher quality pipe to Enporion customers.


Professional Services
Managed a group of up to 15 consultants, contractors and developers to provide the professional services to design and implement connections to customer Supply Chain systems. Implemented integrations to various ERP and eProcurement systems including SAP R3 and SRM Suite, Oracle (iProcurement and 11i), Ventyx Asset Suite, MRO Software (Maximo), Commerce One, and various other legacy applications.

Business Strategy
Played a key role in determining the feasibility of creating a company to provide an electronic marketplace, strategic sourcing services, and value added services for multiple electric and gas utilities. (This company became Enporion, Inc and has been serving the electric utility industry since 2001). Completed commodity assessments and connections studies for Allegheny and its suppliers. Provided key input to the business requirements and technology selection process, staffing of key positions, and various other startup activities for the new company.

Sourcing
Led a team of 12 purchasing managers, contractors and support staff, to provide $200M annual procurement of goods and services for the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) and Telecommunications Business Units.

Designed, negotiated, and implemented price adjustment clauses based on the Producers Price Index (PPI) and other industry accepted indices to allow for issuance of long-term contracts for various commodities including treated wood utility poles, wire and cable, and paper.

Implemented a vendor stocking program for MRO materials including pole line hardware and safety materials for the T&D Business Unit. This program serviced over 40 separate stocking locations in five states and represented in excess of $5M in annual spend.

Designed and implemented consistent and measurable performance indicators for on-time delivery with major electrical distributers. Results were used to feed a vendor performance system which factored into future bid evaluations.

Technology
Provided business requirements and project management for the development and implementation of an automated bid evaluation system. The application, designed for large commodity blankets, merges bids from electronic templates provided in the RFP into a single file and performs an automated evaluation based on the evaluation criteria provided by the buyer. The system would then upload the bid information directly into the procurement system for creation of blanket purchase orders.

MBE Program
Developed and initiated a corporate wide (5000+ employees) Minority Business Program focused on increasing bid participation from MBE / WBE concerns. This program resulted in the increase of MBE bid participation from less than 2% to over 10% for a total purchasing budget of $600M in its initial year.
