CONSULTING ASSIGNMENTS, 12/2012 to Date. Providing project management services on a freelance consulting basis. Assignments have included: Capital Projects Management, for Faithful & Gould, Boston, at Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research, Cambridge, managing facility capital projects. Business Consulting, for Freyssinet SA, Ltd., Jeddah, sourcing specialized contractors and construction management companies as candidates for joint ventures / affiliation on major overseas projects. Project Management Plan, for Lord Cultural Resources, Toronto, developing strategic plan for the design and execution of interior fitout for the Grand Egyptian Museum Project, Cairo.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT, 1/2009 to 10/2012, with AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE:ACM), the largest provider of planning, engineering and construction supervision services worldwide. Assignments as an AECOM senior manager included: Deputy Project Director, responsible for project reporting, management of design and engineering consultant team and enabling construction work for the Louvre Classical Art Museum Project, Abu Dhabi. Project planned as an iconic 700,000 square foot structure sited in harbor waters. From 1/2009 to 12/2009. Senior Project Manager, responsible for management of design and engineering consultant team for public venues of the National Museum Project, Abu Dhabi. Project planned as a 540,000 square foot iconic structure and focal point for the surrounding multi-billion dollar Cultural District. From 1/2010 to 10/2010. Project Director, responsible for management of site based design and engineering team and as liaison to client for the Sidra Medical & Research Center Project, Doha. Project consists of a new 2,110,000 square foot hospital building, a new 517,000 square foot outpatient clinic building and new 183,000 square foot central services building. Project envisioned the premier medical and research institute in the region. From 11/2010 to 12/2011. Project Manager, responsible as liaison to client for the planning, design and engineering of the King Khalid Medical City Project, Dammam. Award winning plan consists of a 1,000 bed teaching hospital with major academic facilities, conference center, office buildings, high-rise residential towers, parking garages, plant facilities, roadways, highway access ramps and new utility infrastructure. Collective floor area on order of 8,000,000+/- square feet. From 1/2012 to 10/2012.
CONSULTING / PARTNERING, 10/2007 to 11/2008, Greater Boston. Proposed as Senior Program / Project Manager by three major Boston area project and construction management firms, assignment contingent upon contract award. Includes two proposals to manage major university projects and one proposal to manage renovation of a research institute. Fee basis assignments included construction quality monitoring, code compliance, project planning, etc.
PROJECT MANAGER, 2/2005 to 10/2007 with the former Archstone-Smith Operating Trust, Boston, a national developer of luxury apartment communities, acquired by Tishman Speyer Properties in 10/2007. Responsible for management of engineering, construction and special permit compliance for the Cambridge Residential Project in East Cambridge, a 715,000 square foot complex with 426 apartment units in 22 above grade stories and 433 parking stalls in three subgrade parking levels. Site development included two new streets, major infrastructure and underpinning of the elevated MBTA Green Line.
CONSULTING, 11/2003 to 11/2005, in Greater Boston. Providing project management services on a consulting or contract basis. Projects included: Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research Fitout. Consulting to Hanscomb Faithful & Gould on the conversion of the historic Necco Building, Cambridge, into research facilities. From 2/2004 to 12/2004. Claims Preparations. Consulting to the Peabody Essex Museum on claims emerging from design and engineering errors and omissions. From 10/2004 to 11/2005. Feasibility Analysis. Consulting on feasibility for condominium development on Roundys Hill, Marblehead. From 12/2003 to 7/2004.
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, 10/1997 to 11/2003 with The Peabody Essex Museum, Salem. Responsible for development budget planning, phasing, architecture, engineering and construction, in addition to support of acquisition, permitting and legal challenges. The project was awarded the Build Massachusetts 2003 Grand Honor distinction as the best project in Massachusetts. Project included: New Wing. In excess of 105,000 square feet, included a 12,000 square foot curvilinear skylight over three-story entrance concourse and atrium, a 200 seat auditorium, day-lighted galleries, full service food preparation, retail, exhibition support areas, collections management areas, etc. Campus Development. Street and infrastructure realignments, relocation of two 300 ton masonry historic structures, multiple building demolitions, commemorative park grounds and public garden construction amid historic downtown Salem. Historic Structures. Renovations and retrofits of multiple historic structures, including two designated as National Historic Landmarks, as well as reconstruction of a historic structure transported from China.
CONSULTING, 10/1995 to 10/1997, in Greater Pittsburgh. Projects included: Medical Center Vertical Expansion. Two-story, 36,000 square foot vertical expansion and redevelopment of an existing suburban outpatient facility into a 37-bed, full service satellite hospital for the former Saint Francis Health System. Responsible for directing design, planning, engineering, permitting and construction startup. New Office Building. Two-story, 20,000 square foot medical office building and site development for the former Saint Francis Health System. Responsible for economic feasibility evaluation, zoning variances, definition of project scope, design and engineering management.
SENIOR PROJECTS MANAGER, 4/1990 to 8/1995 with the former Legent Corporation, Pittsburgh, a systems software developer. Responsible for management of all major real estate projects throughout North America, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, design, engineering and construction, in addition to project related legal, accounting and media coverage. Projects included: New Software Development Center. Site acquisition and development of new seven-story, 250,000 square foot software development center along Pittsburghs Parkway West. Corporate Headquarters Shell Retrofit. Retrofit of a five-story, 140,000 square foot incomplete and foreclosed shell building along Dulles Toll Road, Virginia, converting it into corporate headquarters. Leased Facility Build-Outs. Multiple build-outs, totaling 260,000 square feet, across North America, including data centers, software development facilities and corporate offices.
RESIDENT ARCHITECT, 12/1986 to 3/1990 with The Ritchie Organization, Architects and Planners, Boston. Assigned to project site, Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. Responsible for planning, phasing and construction administration across a spectrum of expansions and renovations, as well as major building mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
