I am seeking a career in electrical engineering. I will gladly consider permanent or full time temporary work anywhere in the United States that will utilize the wide range of skills I've developed at the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at the University of Delaware.

Part of my curriculum at the University of Delaware included classes in designing and developing hardware and software in digital signal processing. We were given a box of parts and a microcontroller that we programmed with PSpice and were asked to design and develop a digital voice recorder. In another class we designed and developed carbon nano-tube transistors.

I currently work part-time as a research assistant for the IAC here in Newark, Delaware. I provide engineering, data collection, energy auditing, report writing, research and training skills.

Since I have been with the center I have help generate over 30 energy audit reports which contain at least three energy saving recommendations for each client. Out of these reports I have been the "Lead Student" on eight reports. This involves managing and helping other students working on the report. It also involves maintaining successful and positive information exchange between students and clients. The final report, including charts, graphs, total energy and emission savings, is also the responsibility of the "Lead Student".

I have written over 60 individual recommendations of which 22 have been confirmed as implemented by our clients for a total annual savings of more than: $600,000, 1.3 GWhs, 51MMMBTUs of natural gas, 7.8 million tons of CO2 11,000 tons of SO2 and 4,000 tons of NOx.

I hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware and I am currently working towards my Master's degree in electrical engineering from said university. I am an expert in data collection, report writing, troubleshooting, research and many computer applications. I have worked extensively with Microsoft Word and Excel. I have experience working with RSMeans cost analysis software for simple payback calculations that we provide to our clients. I am versed in many of the DOE's energy software applications such as SSST, SSAT, 3E Plus, PHAST, NxEAT, CHP, AIRMaster+, CWSAT, FSAT, MotorMaster+, PSAT and Quick PEP.

I have gained an extensive knowledge of infrared imaging devices, HOBO data acquisition loggers and software. I also have a deeper understanding of many industrial systems such as: electrical, lighting, steam, cooling, HVAC, control, anaerobic digestion and compressed air.

I have gained a broad range of skills over my lifetime, and have honed my interest in science and engineering while working at the IAC and completing my bachelor's degree.

Although not trained as a mechanical engineer I enjoy many aspects of mechanical engineering and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty studying mechanical systems. I enjoy working on and repairing cars, motorcycles and marine engines.

I have worked in fields other than energy prior to obtaining my bachelor degree; in which I have gained many skills that are beneficial to my working at the IAC. Being a team player, writing reports, writing standard operating procedures, training others, troubleshooting problems and a vast knowledge of computer hardware and software are just are just a few of the skills I have gained and can bring to the table.

I can be contacted at any time at adrianwetzel[at]gmail.com or (302) 442-2305.
