My experience includes project management, operations management, business development, and inspection of publicly and privately funded construction projects involving Geotechnical, Civil, and Structural Engineering. Establishing and maintaining client relationships and providing a point of contact to clients, design professionals, construction managers, contractors, and governing building authorities at the state and local level was my primary responsibility. Additional duties included the development of business opportunities, providing operational and project management, and technical oversight of inspection activities on projects to ensure inspection and testing complied with project plans, specifications and applicable codes. I also established cost controls for inspection and testing budgets, review invoices, supervise field inspection activities, laboratory testing and administrative personnel. Review daily field inspection and laboratory reports. Prepare status and final reports detailing construction inspection and testing activities for project closeout. Perform observation and testing on geotechnical and civil projects, and special inspection of structural components of construction projects.

Provided business development services and performed project management duties for all aspects of construction materials testing and inspection projects. Managed an office providing inspection and materials testing services in an area covering four Northern California counties. Oversaw all business development activities for the region, and provided project management and technical oversight of the construction materials testing business. Established annual business goals and strategies, prepared the office business plan, approved pricing and write-offs, and ensured compliance with company policies for all office financial and safety procedures. Directed office recruiting and staffing activities, and performed inspections on select civil and structural projects.

Primary responsibilities consisted of project management for private and publicly funded construction projects, including review of project plans and specifications, and development of inspection and materials testing budget proposals. Interfaced with clients and design professionals, provided project status information regarding budget, and inspection schedule during course of construction. Interfaced with local building departments and state inspection agencies to verify and report compliance of structural elements observed to approved project plans and specifications. Supervised field inspectors activities, reviewed daily construction field reports and prepared project summary inspection and final inspection reports. Supervised creation of a Special Inspection and Materials Testing department for a civil engineering firm, and oversaw the certification process with the Bay Area Special Inspection Committee. Reviewed project plans and specifications and prepared budget proposals for special inspection and construction materials testing business on primarily privately funded construction projects. Interfaced with clients and design professionals through oral and written communication providing project information regarding inspection status, schedule, and budget for the project during construction. Interfaced with local building departments and state inspection agencies to verify and report compliance of structural elements of the construction to approved project plans and specifications. Supervised field inspectors, reviewed daily construction field reports, and prepared inspection progress reports and final inspection reports. Performed inspections on civil and structural projects as needed.

SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN:

1984 to 1997

Provided inspection services for Geotechnical and Civil construction projects through observation and documentation of contractors activities, monitored various types of earthwork operations including; mass grading for residential and commercial construction projects, construction of roadways, landslide repair, and underground utility installation. Performed soils compaction testing as quality assurance/control functions in addition to providing observation and testing of asphalt paving operations. Performed special inspection and testing of reinforced concrete, pre-stressed and post -tensioned concrete placement, structural masonry construction, fireproofing and roofing applications. Performed laboratory testing of construction materials; soils, asphalt, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing to document compliance to project plans and specifications. Performed additional inspection and testing services under consultant contracts with Caltrans for the District 4 Laboratories located in San Mateo, Newark, and Pleasant Hill California.
