Career History
Owner, McManus Consulting, 1997 to Present. Launched real estate development and construction consultancy to target second home, small hotel and energy efficiency projects.
VP/Senior Construction Manager/OAR, Lowe Enterprises, 2007 to 2008. Led $475M Terranea Resort project on CA coast. Process improvement and schedule compression saved $3M in overhead/interest and avoided construction claims.
Senior Construction Manager, Knoll Consulting Group, 1992 to 1997. Directed projects for Hawaii developers and owners, including resorts, hotels, luxury sub-divisions, big box retail and commercial adaptive reuse.
VP Development/Construction Manager, Cosmo World Corporation (CWC Japanese developer), 1990 to 1992. Led development and construction phase of $500M Hualalai Resort project at Kona. Delivered world-class product.
Project Manager/OAR, Torrey Pines Hotel Associates, 1988 to 1990. Developed and built exceptional 400-room design-build hotel on Torrey Pines Golf Course. Completed project early and under budget.
Project Manager/OAR, Matt Swiss Grande Associates (MSGA), 1986 to 1988. Selected to lead Swiss Airs 54-story, hotel project in Chicago. Overcame major design, change order and risk management challenges, completing $125M, four-star hotel within aggressive 18-month timeline.
Earlier, served as VP Design/Construction/Contract Manager with Coast Hotels Development Company/Howard S. Wright Construction Company (Monterey Sheraton and Columbia Center Office tower); and Project Manager with ZRD Development Company (Mission Bay and Torrey Pines Hotels), Haas and Haynie Corporation (Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco) and J.A. Boyd and Associates (SFO infrastructure project).
BA in Liberal Arts from Occidental College, later completing the MA curriculum in Environmental Planning at San Francisco State University.
