I began as Foreman with this company in 1995. In 1998, I was promoted to Field Supervisor/Estimator. In 2001, I was promoted to Chief Estimator/Project Manager. I am responsible for bidding, design bidding, and managing projects. That includes procuring materials, setting up job sites with tools, gang boxes, scissor lifts, and managing low voltage subcontractors for Fire Alarm, Data Telephone, and Security Systems. In addition to that, I am responsible for making sure the jobs get done on time and saving as much as possible on budget. Also, I coordinate all activities in the field, corresponding and attending job meetings and making sure my electricians are on the General Contractors schedule and make sure all inspections are met. With my help, this 3-man shop has grown into a shop with 20 electricians in the field, all mentored and trained by me. They have all successfully gone through the ABC apprenticeship program.
CT Electric Reno, NV Feb 1988-June 1995
I began as a delivery driver and worked my way up through the ranks. My first solo job was six months into my ABC apprenticeship program (1989-1993). I wired some interesting projects and a major series of tilt ups and hundreds of Tenant Improvements within those tilt ups. I acquired skills, techniques, and tricks for wiring buildings by myself. I was responsible for all aspects of getting the jobs done and was in charge of all helpers when I did get help. I left in 1995 only after finding out the company had been sold. The name of the company changed to CIE Electric. The company went out of business 3 years after my departure.
