As a Journeyman Carpenter I was required to plan, create, layout to final assembly and install custom interiors for custom yachts. The job required determination of materials for assigned work as instructions are not specific and projects are often removed from the source of immediate supervision. Accurate measurements were required to fill in gaps on incomplete blueprints, sketches, work orders, and bills of material. Work assignments were generally difficult to construct since all cuts including straight, angle, compound angle, curved and miter, must be accurate and result in a close fit when assembled. Assembly and installation must be precise, because the finished items are usually closely joined to other assemblies. The details or repair and modification projects must often be worked out by as the job progressed since the cutting and fitting of specific items into the existing structure precludes preplanning in exact detail. I reported to the Carpentry Supervisor, who assigns work orally or through work orders with little or no instructions as to dimensions, requirements or methods of approach. I was to determine the kind and type of materials and tools necessary to complete the assignment from a wide variety of materials and equipment available, and substitutes material on own initiative. Cutting, finishing, fitting, and installing required close attention to specifications, blueprints, and sketches, and thorough knowledge of the task to be performed without assistance or supervision. I instructed those of lesser experience. I am well versed on managing critical scheduling, deadlines and budgets. I have an overall familiarity with codes, procedures and processes. I am personally and professionally committed to excellence in all aspects of job performance. Self-direction, ability to work productively without supervision under pressure/deadlines, and in highly sensitive /stressful situations is one of my strong suits. I have been recognized for consistently providing leadership and assistance to co-workers and employees
