Job Title Project Manager
Relocation Preferences : Massachusetts/Rhode Island/ New Hampshire
Objective : --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Kevin Cahill and I am replying to your ad in Craigslist. For the past seven months I have been employed by a heavy highway firm out of the south shore as a project manager. Prior to that I had been laid off from a Boston based company called Bond Brothers after 8 years of experience in construction management. My career with Bond began out of college as a field engineer. After a few years I moved into an assistant superintendents role, and most recently a superintendent for the past three and one half years. Although I have worked in all types of construction, my experiences are mostly in underground excavation for utilities in the busy streets of Boston, or miles of electrical transmission lines throughout New England. Project budgeting and cost control became one of my greatest skillsets with my background and the use of Heavy Job / Heavy Bid software.

On my last project for Bond Brothers, I had the opportunity to spend 18 months at Harvard University as part of there 50 Year Alston Initiative Plan. Throughout this project I dealt with many other types of construction and managed a 25 million dollar project. I completed a variety of projects such as the installation of sound walls, miles of sidewalk and curb, the installation of three turf football fields, a weather anemometer, milesof temporary roads and many other miscellaneous projects. These experiences have allowed me to become more versatile in my position. Although my work was completed in a more than satisfactory manner, Harvard lost a third of its assets in the market and closed up the jobsite. Bond also had little work forcing them to cut the majority of its middle management staff.

My current employer got a chance to see my experience as one of my past subcontractors on the Alston Initiative, and felt confident enough to hire me for my current position. This gave me the first chance to work in the public sector as the lead project manager for Federal Stimulus and variuos DOT projects. I enjoy this work and my employer, but will always look for the opportunity to get back in the civil / utility field. I have attached my resume followed by a list of my relevant projects. In regards to my current employment I prefer to remain discrete and left that section out of my resume. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions. Reference letters and a description of my recent employment are available upon request. Thank you for time and consideration.
