RICHARD H. LESLEY PAGE 2 0F 3 ============================================ Management and Leadership Achievements continued This design / build approach led to 6 hotels, 2 child development centers, 2 medical centers and 1 business office complex being built during the first 5 years of my tenure as president. Total of $62 million in gross income. The value engineering approach to cost estimation help trim operating expenses, time and materials which promoted savings of 8% to 12%. Hiring of staff who had knowledge and skills in areas that were different from mine allow the company to have a better continuity and free up time to develop new clientele bases. To enhance the job performance of the company crew members, Training courses were developed in different types of construction techniques. Productivity increased 20% over 1st year after training course were initiated. An incentive program for supervisory level personal in field operations was established. Supervisory personal were awarded a bonus based on 10% of every dollar that they could be saved on the set budget . This program held a 3-fold benefit 1. the control of waste 2. motivated employees 3. The company made additional 90% on every dollar that was saved. Code analysis and research built strong understanding of the building codes. Leading to a better relationship with building officials. This relationship with building officials lead to fewer delays with inspections and processing of permits. All supervisor personal where required to have copy of the building codes and the corporation sponsored code classes to help them understand the codes. Enforcement of O.S.H.A. regulations and teaching of safety protocols and weekly meetings were mandatory. The company has never had a O.S.H.A. negative inspection. Technology and Engineering Achievements In-house A&E design work led to new construction techniques in the building of 3 and 4 story structures. The concept of using pre-engineered metal buildings for the structural framing led to considerable savings and faster building time over the standard structural steel. This innovated approach to constructing buildings of this type and size had not been used before on the eastern seaboard. Savings up to $500,000 in the overall cost per building were realized. The use of pre-engineered metal buildings led to changing an entire chain of convenience stores from standard construction. This change allowed the construction time to be reduced by 30%.

The use of underground water infiltration systems became an archetypical with the corporation. Designing under ground storm water storage systems done away with dangerous and unsightly water retention ponds. The use of these systems were not widely accepted at first, but due to engineering data proving such system did work and also the architectural landscape work we could perform over such areas led to acceptance, specially in cities where land area was a premium. Insurance companies openly accepted these systems as that ponds led to higher liability for owners. New in-place piling system design was produce for support of cement storage dome. This system openly displace the load bearing support of the dome and its product. This new double ring piling design reduce the foundation cost by 45% over old traditional piling placements.
