Career
Florida Power and Light: 2009 Desoto 25 MW Photovoltaic Solar Site Commissioning Manager Commissioned the largest solar photovoltaic power generation system in the USA comprising of three hundred acres of single axis trackers with over ninety thousand solar panels. In process with converting UK Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration to USA Professional Engineer (PE) registration. Aiming to achieve A17 electrical and transmission lines engineering general contractor license and K11 dual electrical contractor license in the coming year.
SOLON Corporation: 2008 - 2009 Programs Manager Operations and maintenance (O&M) manager of fifty million dollars of installed power generation systems and project manager for the construction of a seven million dollar, one megawatt single axis tracker (SAT) solar photovoltaic installation. Liaise with SOLON SE European offices and affiliates, assisting development of the new product line for the USA and obtaining Underwriters Laboratory (UL) product certification. Work with Business Development to technically specify and formulate competitive bids on renewable energy integrated systems. Develop project specific contracts and liaise with legal teams and client representatives. Comply with standards including IEEE, ISO, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, NESC, UBC, IBC, Cultural, Wildlife, Archaeological, Federal, State, County, City and Local Authorities. Expert in Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC) projects, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and Site Licensing Agreements (SLA). Contract staffing and services as needed. Present a positive company image to the clients. Provide regular reports to the management team.
MDM Consortium, Dartmouth College & Columbia University: 2006 - 2008 Site Director Facility manager with control of four million dollars of assets and one million dollars in funds. Budget planning. Oracle applications and purchasing card administration. Development of long term plan for company direction and facility modernization. Designed and constructed computerized servo control and instrumentation systems. Reduced facility energy consumption. Scheduling of facility & research programs. Provide management reports to consortium members. Educate students. Manage regular and contract staff as needed and in accordance with labor laws. Implement and maintain compliance with current regulations including OSHA, NFPA, NEC, UBC and the Tohono O'odham Nation. Planned maintenance. Authored facility training manuals. On call for all systems.
W. M. Keck Observatory, University of California & NASA: 2001 - 2006 Operations Manager Lead position at the world's largest optical and infra red telescopes, assuming responsibility for the one hundred and fifty million dollar facility and all personnel. Development of new technical systems, budget management & scheduling of resources. Authored the facility training manual. Volunteer educator at the visitor center. On call for all systems. Constructed my green home during this time.
Isaac Newton Group, UK & Holland Universities: 1999 - 2001 Higher Professional Technical Officer Oversaw Western Europe's largest observatory facility and all personnel during night time operations. Project development, budget management & scheduling of resources. Mentor Students. Became fluent in Spanish language. On call for all systems.
