My name is Chad Hayes. This note is a request to be considered for Estimator positions or those positions that will take advantage of the skills I have developed over my career. Attached you will find resume and recommendation letter copies, but the main purpose of this note is to show you how I would be a valued asset to your company. Most of my career required working independently by managing time and tasks necessary to help a fan, louver, and vent manufacturer, a sheet metal ductwork contractor, a window contractor, and two storefront and curtainwall contractors get awarded commercial HVAC and glass and glazing construction projects, but as a team member grouped with supervisors, assistants, vendors, and varied office staff. The tasks included:

communicating effectively face to face, through email, and over the phone,
becoming proficient in four estimating software platforms inicluding QuikPen, GDS, ePartners, and LogiKal, as well as Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and company-specific formulas to determine material and labor costs, and Microsoft Office suite to prepare quotations submitted to mechanical and general contractors,
positioning to negotiate from a point of strength,
obtaining pricing from vendors for items to be included with the scope of work,
untangling problems and discrepancies, and
focusing on the bottom line to achieve the desired results.

In reviewing my career goals, I found that the skills I have developed would transition well into the customer service field. To that end, I recently graduated from the Connect to Work Customer Service Training Program, an intense six-week course that is a collaboration between the Urban League of Philadelphia and Project H.O.M.E.s Honickman Learning Center and Comcast Technology Labs. There, I had a great chance to learn the intricacies of customer service.
Basic traits of mine that instill confidence are being reliable as well as being able to learn fast and perform consistently. While supervising and instructing five individuals intermittently over a long career have helped to hone my organizational skills, just as importantly, I have successfully strived to get along well with co-workers, vendors, and anyone else on the job to smooth work day, and make it easier to perform well with a good frame of mind.
