Name : Nick Prizant
Industry Type : Highway - Heavy Contractors
City & State : San Jose, CA
Job Title Plant Manager
Relocation Preferences : Any
Objective : My name is Nick Prizant and I have been in the Ready Mix industry for most of my career. I began in the technical end of the industry, working in a ready mix and aggregate Research and Technical Services Laboratory for nine years, eventually becoming lab manager. I am well versed in mix designs, aggregate gradation testing, all ACI field testing methods, colored concrete (both powder and liquid), troubleshooting hard and wet concrete, etc.

I was then recruited to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for three years where I was plants manager for a private Saudi company. We had three ready mix plants (one of which my Team erected), a basalt quarry operation, complete testing laboratories, a sand plant, 75 mixer trucks, 12 boom pumps, a truck shop, and I was responsible for over 150 employees from eight different nations. Each plant averaged between 200 and 250,000 cubic yards of concrete per year.

After my contact expired, I was hired by Graniterock in California, where I worked for the next eleven years. You can find out more about this remarkable company at Graniterock.com Graniterock has won the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award (presented by President George H.W. Bush), was named 16th of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work for in America, and our CEO was named one of the Top Six Bosses in America and a personal mentor of mine. For the first two years I began my career at Graniterock as a concrete sales representative and then was offered the position of plant manager. This was actually a "site" manager position. My responsibilities included a ready mix batch plant with 25 mixer trucks and drivers at 200,000 cubic yards per year, an asphalt batch plant at over 225,000 tons per year. We had a recycle yard that took in broken HMA and concrete which we crushed into Class II base rock and resold. All of our aggregates were railed in and I also oversaw all of the rail operations. I developed and implemented (along with my on site teams) environmental programs, safety programs, and training programs. I was personally responsible for all compliance to local and federal water discharge as well as compliance with the California Air Resources Board.

As you can see, I have over twenty years experience in the production of materials for heavy construction. I take pride that my greatest asset is my skill as a Team Builder. I have loved every job that I have had in this industry. You see, I don't get up in the wee hours of the morning for a paycheck...I get up because I love my job. If I don't, then I make it so for myself and my Team Members. I believe in Job Ownership and Self-Led Teams that have had World Class training. I am unique and have skills that I can bring to your operation, and become an important part of your team. I would be an asset and I AM what you are looking for in a plant manager. I simply ask that you give me the opportunity to talk with me about what I have to offer and my future with you. Thank you very much for your time and for reviewing my assets. PLEASE feel free to contact my references to get a better feel for the skill set which I have to offer. My wife and I would look forward to relocating to most areas within the United States where ever an opportunity may present itself with a fine company.

Regards,
Nick Prizant
