Educated in the office, on the jobsite, and at the graduate level, I have the ability to solve complex procedural, budgeting, design, and staffing challenges. Seeing projects develop from ideas into realities has become my focus and passion. Founder and Owner Van Zandt Design Build, LLC, Seattle, WA. -Since 1998, I have provided complete architectural design and general contracting services for residential remodeling and new construction projects in the Seattle area. -I have served as the primary point of contact for communication, as project designer and design supervisor, as budget analyst, and as construction supervisor for all projects. -I have been responsible for all accounting and business administration, including billing, accounts payable, payroll, taxes, financial tracking, insurance and license maintenance. -I have been responsible for writing and revising all construction contracts and for seeing that all provisions of construction contracts are met. -Typical project budgets have been $150,000-$250,000. Some budgets have been as high as $500,000, while some have been as low as $25,000. -All projects required the selection, co-ordination, and management of sub-contractors. Up to 25 sub-contractors were used on more complex projects, while simpler projects involved as few as three. -All projects utilized permanent staff to perform all carpentry work. Staff size has ranged from one to four. -I have been responsible for the generation and co-ordination of permit documents as well as the securing of building permits and for compliance with building and zoning codes. -I have been responsible for business deveolpment and for developing all marketing materials. -I am proficient in MS Office, Vectorworks (CAD), and accounting software. -For work portfolio, please see www.vanzandtdesignbuild.com
Project manager Environmental Works Community Design Center, Seattle, WA. 1995-1997 -As an employee of a non-profit architectural services firm, I provided full architectural design services for institutional, multi family, and single-family projects. -Responsibilities included construction monitoring, progress assessment, pay request review, building and zoning code compliance, end-use suitability, professional consultant coordination, and architectural design and production.
