INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING / MANUFACTURING COST ESTIMATING
OBJECTIVE A successful Industrial Engineer with the proven track record of improving sales and profit goals of a company through the use of established cost estimating techniques.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS * TEAM Industries: Reduced quote turn-around time by 35% by organizing requests by product, operation and material requirements. A paperless quote notes packet was organized by customer, product & part number that facilitated the APQP and PAPP processes. * ENSIGN Corporation: Reduced quote turn-around time by 50% by installing a M.O.S.T. based work measurement database for manufacturing operations to update and replace the formerly established quoting procedures meeting all ISO requirements. * IKS: Increased (-18%) to 3% gross margin by implementing a family of parts manufacturing cell for the male component of the gang-tooling unit. CAREER TRACK Engineering Cost Estimator: 09/2005 to 01/2009 TEAM-Industries: Park Rapids, Minnesota Analyzed customer quote requests for manufacturing merit, publishing a complete quotation using the VANTAGE software system by managing the quote request from initiation to product sale, handing the project off to manufacturing engineering. Interaction with Milling and Lathe Manufacturing Engineers to establish Setup and PPH data with scrap allowances and tool usage, Fixture Design for concept and costs, Quality Engineering for process gauging requirements/costs and metrology procedure that effect PPH. Track quoted projects for quarterly reviews. TEAM reduced the Park Rapids plant employment by 80%, closed TEAM Baxter.
Industrial Engineer: 03/2002 to 09/2005 Ensign Corporation: Bellevue, Iowa Installed a MOST based work measurement database for assembly labor used for cost estimating of all custom transformer designs and current Ensign standard transformer design offerings with the data being operation specific. The estimating program was menu driven using Excel vertical lookup tables for calculating raw material costs and usage. The estimate labor hours are used to establish the product routing, via Made2Manage (M2M) production software.
Engineering Liaison: 08/2000 to 02/2001 IKS/Fahler Manufacturing & Engineering: Rockford, Illinois Engineering Liaison between IKS (International Knife & Saw Inc. Corrugated Div Cincinnati, Ohio) with duties of modifying customer requested designs from industry established stock standard Male, Female, Spacer and Fingers of the corrugated cardboard gang tooling. Issued the daily production schedule and routings for the water-jet, milling departments. IKS closed the Fahler production facility 02.09.01.
Cold Forming Cost Estimator: 08/1999 to 08/2000 Specialty Screw Corporation: Rockford, Illinois Analyzed customer quote requests to establish a cold-headed manufacturing part routing/cost estimate. Published new cost requests and established a complete quotation using the VANTAGE software system including Wt/Vol. die progression calculation for the headers. The estimating procedures met or exceeded all QS-9000 operation criteria.
Senior Cost Process Engineer: 04/1997 to 07/1999 Rockford Products Corporation: Rockford, Illinois Analyzed customer quote requests in order to establish a cold-headed part routing and cost estimate with margin. Cost estimator for the Auto, Engine and Industrial division (AEI) and member of the Large Diameter design team. The estimating program was activity based and had flexibility to project various production scenarios to meet targeted margins. RPC closed the AEI division 07.99
Industrial Engineer: 07/1988 to 04/1997 Dynacorp, Division of Emerson Power Transmission (EPT): Rockford, Illinois Performed a variety of industrial engineering tasks to support the production process including cost estimating, process planning, work measurement(machining & assembly), shop-floor routings documentation (MAPICS based). Held Manufacturing Engineerings ISO 9000 department coordinator and the Capital Coordinator position from 6/94 until the company sale, 04/97.
Industrial Engineer: 10/1981 to 07/1988 Ingersoll Cutting Tool Company: Rockford, Illinois Work encompassed all phases of classical industrial engineering duties including M.O.S.T. generated shop floor time standards to support the cost estimating function. Supplied all cost estimates for new cutter and stock standard cutter body designs and reduced the three-day turn around time by 85% issued the majority of the quotation requests within 24 hours.
Previously employment: Sr. Engineering Technician at Micro Switch, Division of Honeywell from 03/1976 to 10/1981.
EDUCATION Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Cardinal Stritch College Milwaukee, WI (May 1995 - 3.71/4.00) Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering Technology: Valley College Rockford, IL (Dec 1975 2.41/4.00)
