Scope of experience encompasses projects in extremely hostile climates - arctic to tropical - as well as heavily regulated environments.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

Senior project manager for design and construction or major renovation of six major mid-rise and high-rise buildings over the past ten years, with budgets between $16 million and $37 million. Five included new parking garages of post-tensioned concrete, pre-cast concrete or steel-framed construction.

Implemented project management software company-wide at one employer while simultaneously performing project management duties. System included provisions for cost control and reporting, subcontract preparation and change order management.

Prepared four proposals for major waste transfer stations for Hong Kong government, each in the range of $150-200 million in capital and operating costs, two of which were awarded to the firm. One successful proposal included construction underground in solid rock, multiple high-density compaction stations, and ocean-going barge transfer across Hong Kong Harbor.

Managed the facilities department for the worlds second largest waste management firm, directing architects, engineers and project managers in the development, design and construction of hundreds of facilities, including trucking centers, waste transfer stations, recycleries, landfills and special waste processing complexes.

Managed design and construction of the worlds largest hazardous waste landfill in eastern Colorado, with storm control systems capable of handling a 10,000 year storm event and with thousands of square yards of roads and pavements in roller-compacted concrete.

Developed an innovative use of flowable fill to construct deep footings in areas of rubble fill. This process at one downtown Houston project helped avoid many weeks of excavation and backfill and became a major marketing triumph for the employer.

Managed utility systems, including power generation capacity, for Navy base in Hawaii. Coordinated major power and other utility grid changes for up-town development in Austin. Worked with power companies throughout the United States in providing for high voltage electric services to hotels, condominiums, office buildings and industrial plants. Advocated and implemented an energy management program for world-wide waste company. Spearheaded Austin apartment high-rise construction to meet Green Building and LEEDS certification requirements.

As a young Navy lieutenant, led a detachment of 44 SeaBees to Adak, Alaska, building ten communications antennas in some of the most hostile weather and soil conditions on earth.

Licensed as a professional engineer in six states. Currently studying for certification with PMI as a Project Management Professional.

* Serve as on-site representative to California-based real property developer for construction of 31-story luxury apartment complex, including residential tower and nine-story parking garage in Austin.

* Developed cost management system providing real-time status of contract cost, pending claims and remaining contingency. Current project is near completion on time and under budget.

* Managed expanded testing and inspection program covering balcony rail capacity, veneer, window and door waterproofing, and ADA/FHA compliance.

* Oversaw compliance efforts with Austins Green Building program and LEEDS.

* Served as senior project manager to Houston-based general contractor building mid-rise and high-rise condominiums. Projects started and completed included three major condominiums in Houston and San Antonio as well as historic redevelopment of a 1911 bank into a landmark downtown Houston hotel.

* Served as coordinator for companys construction management software system (Timberline), and developed extensive written guidelines and forms for use with the system throughout the company.

* Prepared the written basis for a standards program, managing customer expectations for finished condominium products and targeting levels of quality for company subcontractors and field managers.

* Served as senior project manager to well-established general contractor with offices in Houston and San Antonio.

* Started and completed an historic renovation of a 1950s era downtown office building, including the new construction of an 11-story steel-framed parking garage.

* Developed an innovative process for the construction of drilled footings in rubble-filled downtown properties and used it successfully to create a cost effective foundation for a downtown parking garage.

* Provided leadership and direction to a team of architects, engineers and project managers in four major areas of engineering support for a $5 billion global leader in waste management.

* Led a team that successfully bid on construction of two transfer stations in Hong Kong valued at $200 million. One of these stations was tunneled into solid rock and utilized ocean-going marine vessels for transport of waste to landfill.

* Developed and published facility design standards for the firm.

* Advocated for and directed an innovative energy management program directed toward greater efficiency in lighting and large motors throughout the company.

* Spearheaded BFIs research into advanced organic waste technology to enable efficient and profitable recycling of biosolids and food wastes on a large scale.
