Job Description
1. Leads the implementation of Controls Group safety and health programs and processes specific to the Systems, Services and Solutions businesses at the Regional, Branch and project/site level where necessary.
2. Directs and facilitates the Regional Safety team in administering/maintaining the safety program at the branch level. Works with branch safety coordinators to develop and implement action to improve site safety performance. Tracks and measures corrective action and improvement.
3. Assists the Regional Management team in developing the appropriate strategy to meet the safety and health goals set by the business unit and corporation.
4. Develops a regional communication strategy for management and supervision to maintain a high level of safety awareness at the front line employee level.
5. Reviews contract documentation for jobs meeting large project safety criteria for relevant safety issues that may affect the execution of the safety program at the project/site level. Incorporates safety requirements into site-specific programs.
6. Directs and conducts the start-up/transition activities for new O&M sites and large construction projects, including: evaluating site hazards, customization of the safety plan and related programs based on hazard assessment, orientation of new employees, and the development of an action plan to establish time frames for meeting specific program development and ongoing milestones.
7. With the exception of toolbox training, conducts safety training (technical, management and process) for all levels of region employees based on specific needs and requirements. Training may include Controls Group safety strategies and goals, technical safety and program information, injury trend data, safety/regulatory information pertinent to the Region/Branches, etc.
8. Assists in calculating and communicating safety performance metrics and goals for the Region/Branches by each Systems and Services, and regularly tracks and reports on progress against safety goals.
9. Evaluates and analyzes injuries and related trends at assigned Region and Branches works directly with those operations to establish root causes and associated preventative measures.
10. Works with the Manager, Field Safety and Regional Management Team to plan the level of audit support necessary for the Region. Conducts the needed audits and works with consultant where third party audits are required.
11. Presents and promotes Johnson Controls' safety program and performance data to external customers based on need as established by the customer, sales or operations.

Provides hands-on support in terms of training at all levels, the creation of site-specific and task-specific hazard assessments, auditing programs against Corporate standards and creating corrective action plans, along with the investigation of incidents and necessary follow-up.
