What is Construction Supervising Cost Engineer Job Description ?
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The role will involve the review of contractors pay applications for accuracy and conformance with progress, evaluation of contractor cost proposals and the provision of claim analysis, participation in change order negotiations, and the preparation and supervision of independent cost estimates for comparison with designer and / or contractors estimates
2. Liaise with project/discipline leads reporting weekly & monthly planning and progress reports
3. Production of monthly reports related to the position
4. Perform a variety of cost engineering functions encompassing estimating, cost control, budge preparations, forecasting, cost reporting while working under limited supervision
5. To perform and ensure an effective cost control function for the projects life cycle
6. Ability to interpret contract, manage financial risk, estimating and forecasting
7. Maintain current cost control database.
8. Review proposed schedule changes with construction personnel, client and contractors.
9. Support Project Control Manager on assignments outside of job description where applicable
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Technical Diploma or Degree, significant EPC or EPCM industry experience will also be considered
2. Advanced knowledge of Cost and Estimating software generally used on major engineering projects; Timberline, Prism, Primavera, etc.
3. Experience in the evaluation of contractors' baseline schedule and cost-loaded schedule, evaluation of cost impacts for contractor recovery schedules and the tracking of project costs to contract closeout
4. Pipeline Construction experience is desired
5. Motivated self starter
6. Able to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
7. Able to exercise leadership without formal authority and work within a team environment
8. Effective interpersonal communication and organizational skill
