Job Description
1. Design, direct preparation of drawings, and recommend approval for construction of capital improvement projects.
2. Develop LES engineering standards, specifications, policies and guidelines for LES and industry use.
3. Prepare and present reports with justification and documentation in recommending courses of action for capital
improvement projects, standards, written directives, work methods, materials, and guidelines.
4. Organize the design process, material acquisition, efforts of assigned staff, and construction of assigned projects.
5. Develop short- and long-range (one and six years) capital improvement budgets.
6. Manage and complete special projects, including, but not limited to:
a) Developing and updating written directives for the department and for use by other LES employees to include:
1) Engineering guidelines;
2) Standard material lists;
3) Standard specifications; and
4) Other technical and administrative policies and procedures as appropriate.
b) Researching activities pertaining to failure analysis, engineering, and construction practices.
c) Completing economic, loading, system analysis, and technical reports.
d) Completing projects as required.
7. Provide background information and documentation for management consideration on major projects and technical
matters involving advanced engineering theories, concepts, and principles.
8. Provide subject matter technical engineering expertise and support and review technical work of others.
9. Prepare and present technical reports to LES and external groups as required to support project work and to provide
Continuing Education (CEU) opportunities.
