Job Description
Summary Working under general supervision of the department manager in accordance with established policies/procedures, exercises direct daily supervision over employees in Accounts Payable (AP), responsible for processing disbursements on a timely and accurate basis, while ensuring payments have been properly authorized. In addition, supervises Fixed Asset accounting activities. Monitors and redistributes work assignments as necessary to maintain an even balance of work. Ensures that employees follow documented procedures on a consistent basis. Exercises discretion and sound judgment in planning/organizing work; monitors performance and reports status to management. Assures that quality of services meets internal and external customer requirements.
Qualifications Requirements/Education: BA degree in Business Administration, Accounting, a related field, or equivalent. Typically a minimum of six plus years of progressively more responsible experience in accounts payable, accounting, or other financial support areas at an exempt level, including experience providing work/lead direction to a team. A thorough understanding and expertise in the technical aspects and application of accounts payable methods and techniques. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, accounting systems, and operational accounting issues is also required. Requires developed leadership skills/experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this supervisory position, including the ability to map task interdependencies, prioritize such tasks, and develop, monitor and live within budgets. Demonstrated verbal and written analytical/problem solving, communication skills (i.e., English grammar and style), negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential; Must be able to demonstrate intermediate personal computer skills including experience with relevant systems/applications, word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Must be able to perform in a diverse cross-functional team environment. Desired Requirements: Previous experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment. Previous experience with MFG/PRO or SAP software. Either a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in a financial discipline would be a plus.
