The huge reconstruction job on the Inner Dispersal Loop continues - and there are some changes taking place for drivers. They'll find several closed exits and detours this weekend. IDL Construction New York lost nearly 37,000 construction jobs between October 2008 and October 2009, joining 48 other states and the District of Columbia in reporting construction job losses during that 12-month period. Construction work on Bowen Road in Elma, about a half-mile north of Rice Road, is moving along, but will still take a couple more weeks until the job is done and the detour is lifted. The pace of job losses slowed in many U.S. states in October, and the unemployment rate slipped in hard-hit Michigan, the Labor Department said on Friday, hinting the recession may be easing in some areas. A Nevada County contractor has landed his second school building job in less than one year, using an innovative arrangement that keeps local tax dollars in the community. In June, Grass Valley's Sierra Foothills Construction Co. and Tru-Line Builders used the arrangement to win the $13.2 million contract for the second phase of expansion and renovation at the Sierra College campus in Grass ... Greenville-based Global Performance LLC has been hired to help The Boeing Co. manage the design and construction of a new aircraft assembly plant in North Charleston. City officials ordered the owners of Keeaumoku Plaza to halt construction three times before the project stopped. |
