SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Led retrofit project for H+L Architecture for H+L client, meeting compliance issues while saving $150K. Interior/exterior renovation of an historic school building required using structural and cosmetic components that passed requirements of both the Denver Landmark Commission and South High School Preservation Committee. Collaborated with Interior Designer and other principals, matching existing 1923 décor. Provided attractive cost estimate of $1.4M while meeting all design criteria. Delivered on-time $1.35M project at 11% below projection.
Remediated challenging design problem for H+L client, Hewlett-Packard, averting costly redesign and saving valuable resources. H-P product test center construction plans called for an electron microscope and a computer drop-test machine to be near each other. However, vibrations from the drop machine would be a problem for the microscope and relocating either station would require a costly redesign. Recruited experts to assess design and create a viable, cost-effective solution. Identified construction methods to isolate vibrations, enabling construction to proceed.
Improved payment processes on Marx/Okubo project, significantly improving efficiency. The contractor serving the owner/lender on a 12-story office complex routinely supplied error-filled payment application requests, requiring substantial administrative time to decipher. Allocated time to delicately buffer issues between the owner and contractor, while still ensuring construction quality and timely payments to vendors and subcontractors. Maintained client confidence, ensuring continuing long-term relationships with all parties involved.
Directed high school facility construction project for H+L Architecture, cementing long-term relationship. Cherry Creek School District’s Director of Facilities Construction insisted on quality leadership for Smoky Hill High School remodel/expansion project. Accepted personal invitation to lead venture, working to resolve conflicts, review change orders, and assess/approve monthly payment applications. Gained client confidence, resulting in ten-year-plus agreement, securing H+L as school district’s architectural firm for four subsequent major renovations.
