Western States Fire Protection - The largest Union Fire Protection Company in the world. Lead & develop a team of five degreed EHS Professionals and clerical support at 25 Branch Offices with annual revenue valued at $220M in 2007 & $230M in 2008. Launch Soft Tissue Injury Prevention Program. Facilitate the development of the WSFP Computer Based Training (CBT) Module. Departmental budgeting. Accomplishments include:

Reduced frequency of recordable incidents by 11% in the first year through aggressive claim management and assigning accountability.
Developed and directed the production of the WSFP New-Hire Safety Orientation DVD.

2004 2008 Regional EHS Director

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure - A top 25 global contractor, ENR Magazine 2006. Manage a team of six degreed EHS Professionals and clerical support in OH, KY, WV, PA, & MD with job level revenue valued at $586M in 2004, $350M in 2005, and $400M in 2006. Mentor interns during completion of their undergraduate degree. Develop Site-Specific Safety Manuals, Environmental Compliance Manuals, and SPCC Plans. Implement the Environmental Management System (EMS) at all projects and facilities as part of the US EPA Compliance Agreement. Develop and launch the Super Safe Crane Training Program. Accomplishments include:

Reduction of recordable incidents by 56 percent, lost-time accidents by 72 percent, and lost-time days by 83 percent in three years.
Elimination of crane related accidents since inception of Super Safe Cranes Training Program.
EHS Department conducted over 15,000 man-hours of training in three years.

2003 Regional Safety Manager

American Infrastructure - A top 150 heavy civil engineering contractor, ENR Magazine 2006. Manage the corporate EHS Program and company Best Practices on 23 active projects in the Greater Baltimore, MD Area. Supervise two direct reports. Conduct corporate, supervisor, and new-hire safety training. Actively investigate all accidents and incidents for business unit. Write and implement safety policies as needed by projects. Accomplishments include:

Assisted in the design and implementation of a horizontal lifeline system for pre-cast concrete beams that was stamped by a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and standardized for use in all divisions of American Infrastructure.

2000 2002 Safety Engineer

Dick Corporation - Pittsburgh, PA based heavy highway/heavy industrial contractor. A top 50 general contractor, ENR Magazine 2002. Implement corporate health and safety program on projects ranging from $3M-$100M, including the largest PADOT contract awarded to date (2002). Management of two Lead Control and Fall Protection Programs simultaneously during the renovation of the Lane Bane and Smithton Bridges, projects valued at $24M and $31M respectively. Accomplishments include:

Utilization of supervisor safety training, toolbox safety training, and new hire orientation during Phases 3 and 4 of the U.S. Route 30 Section 011 Project. Recordable incidence rate was reduced from 16 to 4 in a one-year period. The corporate goal was 5.
Created two supervisor safety-training modules adopted and utilized company wide.
Assisted in the development of the revised Dick Corporation Safety Representative Handbook utilized on all jobsites.
Jobsite efforts led to only one lost time accident in four projects worked with the company over a three-year span.

1998 1999 Industrial Hygienist

LDA, L.D. Astorino Companies - A Pittsburgh, PA based architectural, engineering, and environmental firm. Member of a 3-person industrial hygiene team that provided health and safety services on a $1M contract with York International at 22 manufacturing facilities domestically. Conduct supervisor training on Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, and Asbestos Operations and Maintenance. Accomplishments include:

Assisted in the development of operation guidelines and sampling plans that were standardized nationwide by York International.
