Vice President of Projects
Selected to spearhead broad portfolio of projects in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan for leading private real estate development company in Middle East with 6,000 employees worldwide. Supervise diverse project team of 25+ multifunctional professionals. Oversee construction of low-, mid-, and high-rise mixed office, retail, residential, and hospitality spaces with 5+ Star ratings and combined value of 2.5 billion AED (approximately $680M). Provide end-to-end project management expertise; approve budgets, conduct feasibility studies, and direct project closeouts.
Led renegotiation/reprogramming of projects during worldwide financial downturn; achieved cost-savings of as much as 60% through value engineering and fee reductions, which enabled projects to remain viable despite unfavorable economic conditions.

Corporate Director of Construction
Recruited to lead $1B expansion of Ameristars casino and hotel portfolio by completing major construction and renovation projects. Estimated costs and prepared aggressive schedules; worked with consulting firms, in-house design teams, and construction personnel to complete initiatives on time and within budget. Coordinated efforts of outside enabling contractors and general contractors, as well as operations staff, to develop project strategies and ensure success. Standardized operational turnover and commissioning of all projects; instituted quality standards, trained staff, and established warranty standards.
Directed new construction of $340M Black Hawk, Colorado Hotel, Spa, and Casino, which is tallest structure south of Salt Lake City and was featured in Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine.
Managed renovation and upgrade of 296-room Jackpot Nevada Hotel to 4-Star rating.
Led $120M casino expansion and hotel facility renovation of The Vicksburg Ameristar Casino and Hotel in Mississippi. Project was featured in ENR as only riverboat casino ever converted from floating to dry-dock vessel while remaining fully operational.

Coordinated renovation of 21 full-service/Limited Service Marriott Hotels valued at over $150M. Determined project scope, drafted design plans, and prepared project estimates. Formed and supervised high-performing team of 20+ in-house professionals, general contractors, and field project managers; provided ongoing mentoring and development, which facilitated successful completion of complex, high-end renovation projects.

Project Director / Owners Representative Orlando Grande Lakes Resort, Orlando, FL, 2001-2003
Supervised, planned, and managed broad range of projects during construction of full-service resort; facility features 1,000-room JW Marriott Hotel; 588-room Ritz-Carlton Hotel; 125,000 square foot convention facility; 40,000 square foot Ritz-Carlton Spa; and 18-hole Greg Norman Golf Course and Clubhouse. 1584+ guest rooms, 88+ suites, and 125,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Led segmented opening of various project components to Hotel Operations division. Managed cross-functional team, drove cost-control initiatives, and monitored schedules. Inspected materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications. Finalized and closed out project.

During construction, operating group secured opportunity to book 100% of rooms for wedding of high-profile athlete, which had potential to establish property as high-end, luxury resort but required shortening of schedule by three months. Accepted booking, coordinated with general contractor and subcontractors, and met all requirements on time. Success of hotel launch exceeded expectations.

Project Director Maui Marriott, Maui, HI, 2000-2001
Executed $75M conversion of 720-room Maui Marriott Hotel to fractional ownership property (timeshare). Renovated all public areas, 15-acre pool and beach area, and four full-service restaurants. Led and managed team of 15 team professionals; coordinated project schedules and allocated resources to team as needed.

Partnered with State Historic Preservation group after discovering antiquities on construction site. Ensured work aligned with preservation groups goal to protect and preserve historic sites. Completed project on schedule, despite having timeline shortened by six months. Received Marriotts Distinguished Service Award.

Project Director Marriott Senior Living Services, Bethesda, MD, 1996-2000
Oversaw construction of $120M advancement of Marriotts East Coast Senior Living Facilities, which included new build of Marriotts Brighton Gardens, Stratford Courts, and Maple Ridge rollout program. Managed all project phases, from initial planning stage through permitting, zoning, and feasibility studies to final close-out.

Established, organized, and supervised regional teams of third-party engineers and architects, as well as in-house teams of quantity surveyors, estimators, interior designers, and accountants.

Directed all phases of construction of multiple senior living facilities in Florida; managed projects valued between $10M and $35M. Acquired necessary permits and secured use/occupancy approvals from all jurisdictions.
