Mr. Allen has over twenty years (20) experience in the Development Profession. As the Senior Executive of multiple organizations he has had direct responsibility for over four billion dollars ($4B) of completed construction projects, representing thousands of projects in the restaurant, hospitality, retail, public and private market sectors.


As a result driven leader, Mr. Allen has consistently developed teams, process and policy that have lead to excellence and sustainable improvement in cost, schedule and operating efficiencies.


At Buffalo Wild Wings, Jay led his team to deliver record results, including 39 new stores (twice the previous year development), 30 remodels and 50 HD audio/visual upgrades. He re-engineered the free standing prototype building, resulting in a 15% ($250K) cost reduction. Additionally, Jays Design and Construction team reduced project cost overruns from 15% to less than 2% while reducing the average cost per square foot by more than 10%. The development cycle from internal Real Estate approval to store opening was reduced from 400 days to 258 days by utilizing the tools and process Mr. Allen has created for his group.


His expertise extends to large scale roll-outs. At HMSHost, Jays team delivered over 350 mixed use projects annually, representing an annual capital budget of over three hundred million dollars ($300M). Success in the difficult environment of airports required unprecedented skill in logistics and project management following the tragic events of 9/11/2001. As a competitive Contract Service provider, HMSHost required highly accurate budgets and schedules for Pro-forma development. Within the first year following Mr. Allens organizational and process changes, the budgeting accuracy improved from an historic 25% overrun to a sustained less than 2% variance of actual versus budgeted costs. This was accomplished while reducing average cost per square foot, and substantially reducing the project timelines from concept award to opening.


Jays experience includes operating a pure P&L Design/Build Department within Marriott. His success included Business Development/Sales, Design and Concept Development. His team included Procurement, Project Accounting, Sales and Marketing in addition to the traditional Design, Project Management and Construction roles.


As a Project Management expert, Jay has consistently taught his teams the importance of beginning with the end mind. He provides the tools, policy and processes that reinforce his teaching and utilization of Project Management skills. These skills have been taught in the classroom environment and implemented in various business sectors to include Contract Services, Restaurant, Retail, Hospitality and General Contracting.
