Summary
Seasoned construction professional/ manager with decades of experience in civil infrastructure, heavy industrial, and commercial projects. Thorough knowledge of construction methods and practices, contract management, and budgeting/ cost accounting.
Major Accomplishment
Managed a hand-assembled, specialized team of contractors, engineers, and consultants completing the rehab of aging civil infrastructure on 400 acres of the former Mather AFB. Wrote the contract Scopes of Work, much of which was unusual or innovative (for example, sidewalk, curb and gutter was placed with a modified slip form machine to eliminate the expense of hand-forming along existing roads).
This $100M+ project was successfully completed in ten phases. I negotiated modifications in the local jurisdictions specifications to cut costs and speed schedules while still delivering high-quality work.
Other Projects
Retail Stores: Contract management and the direct construction oversight of oil-change stores, including both site work and vertical construction. Oil Processing Modules: These were refineries built in the lower 48 for transport on barges to the North Slope. I served variously as an estimator, becoming a Lead Concrete Estimator; Structural Field Engineer; and Cost Engineer. Other Industrial: Field Engineer for mechanical facility improvements at a soup manufacturing plant and a bread factory. Contract management for the construction of a sewer lift station, including keeping submittal logs. Municipal/ Other Government: I was an inspector on two municipal capital improvements projects, a major trunk sewer main extension and a storm/ sewer separation project; an inspector on Michigan DOT highway projects; and a Senior Inspector for Sacramento County, California. As a Project Engineer, I handled EIRs and other preconstruction phase responsibilities for State of California prison construction. Numerous New Residential Subdivisions: Direct contract and construction management of up to eight projects simultaneously, each with an average total contract value of $500K. Promoted to Department Director, with these comments by a VP- Donna demonstrated excellent managerial and decision-making skills, as well as an ability to work under pressure.
