Career Profile
My experience is in the management of Facilities and Construction. I grew up working in residential construction and began working for general contractors after college graduation performing estimating, bidding, purchasing and project management. For 10 years I managed construction coordination for University of Alabama at Birmingham completing projects including the UAB Arena, UAB Library, numerous healthcare facilities, parking decks, dormitories, classroom facilities and research centers. During my tenure with Healthsouth Corporation I progressed from project manager, director, assistant vice-president to vice-president managing the Physical Facility portfolio for several divisions of the company including ground-up Surgery and Surgical Hospitals, Medical Office Plazas, Diagnostic Centers and over 500 Outpatient Physical Therapy facilities. I managed project scope, budget, prototype and standards development, contracting, construction/design, maintenance and real estate. I have developed, completed, renovated and maintained facilities in most of the 50 U.S. states. I have managed teams of architects, interior designers, engineers, real estate brokers and contractors for great projects. I have worked directly for division presidents, CFOs, university department heads and deans. I have worked closely with planning, code and health officials as well as utility service providers, landlords and property managers in the process of developing great facilities ranging from small tenant build-outs in leased spaces to highly technical, ground-up medical, institutional and commercial facilities. I have completed over 100 Diagnostic Centers including state-of-the-art MRI, CT and X-Ray equipment from the majority of the major diagnostic equipment manufacturers. Professional Experience
Diagnostic Health Corporation, Birmingham, Alabama - June 2007 to Present Director-Design/Construction & Real Estate Services I managed all capital project budgeting and schedules for financial planning related to facility build-outs, renovations and major diagnostic equipment. Responsible for building construction, diagnostic equipment additions, renovation and maintenance as well as negotiation of all contracts with consultants and general contractors. Managed real estate negotiations for leased properties and negotiated utility rates with providers in de-regulated states. Developed national and regional design/construction teams and coordinated related work with GE, Hitachi, Siemens and Toshiba for major medical equipment for project development, Established facility standards for "Finishes and Furnishings" and company branding, signage and logos.
Healthsouth Corporation, June 1995-June 2007 1995-1997, Project Manager- Managed design/construction of expansions and renovations to hospitals. Progressed to management of ground-up surgery centers and surgical hospitals in numerous states. 1997-2000, Regional Director, Facility Management- Managed a seven state region developing and maintaining hospitals, surgery, diagnostic and outpatient centers. Traveled extensively to manage approximately 500 facilities in Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and New Mexico. 2000-2002, Asst. Vice-President, Ambulatory Design/Const. Resources- Managed eastern half of the country and Chicago area facilities completing numerous Surgery and Diagnostic centers along with Outpatient Physical Therapy clinics in most states on the east coast. 2002-2007, Vice-President, Outpatient Design/Construction Resources Developed performance-based, regional design/construction teams for projects constructed from Maine to Washington including Alaska and Hawaii. During four year period constructed over 350 new Outpatient Centers and numerous Diagnostic Centers.
University of Alabama at Birmingham1985 to 1995 Construction Project Co-Coordinator, Physical Resources Managed construction of medical, institutional and sport facilities. In addition, I managed Fire, Safety, OSHA and ADA requirements associated with the construction projects and their impact on the University. Projects managed included the UAB Library, UAB Basketball Arena, student housing, parking decks, medical facilities, research laboratories, campus classrooms, intensive care units and ground-up campus structures during 10 years of service.
Davenport Companies, Inc1983 to 1985 Project Manager Responsible for estimating and purchasing for small development and construction company specializing in commercial, high-end residential and condominium real estate development. Responsibilities as only in-house construction manager included development of scope and cost with clients for single family, condo and small commercial as well as purchasing of materials and management of project budgets/schedules through job progression to occupancy.
Rust Engineering, Birmingham, Alabama1981 to 1983 Estimator, Subcontracts Administrator Responsibilities included initiation of subcontracts and estimating for heavy industrial projects including steel mills, pulp and paper plants and refuse to energy plants.
Universal Construction Company-Turner Construction1980 to 1981 Project Manager, Estimator, Field Engineer This was my first management employment position after college. Responsibilities included estimating and bidding on large commercial and industrial projects for excellent, mid-size general contractor in Decatur, Alabama.

My wife, Cindy Leduc Crocker is an occupational therapist and we have one daughter. My interests include outdoor activities, college sports, physical fitness and outdoor landscaping. I am also an avid golfer.
