  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Biodefense Analysis & Countermeasures Center, $134M, with BSL3 Labs, Fort Detrick, MD: Provided critical input for proposal and interview processes to win project; launched project's CM services; and led team through pre-construction services phase.

  • Saint Elizabeth's New Psychiatric Hospital, $195M, Washington, D.C.: Managed pre-construction services; prepared project justification package, which included budgets, schedules, & cash flow projections. Client utilized package to seek public-private financing. This package provided client with documentation to obtain funding.

Civista Medical Center (CMC), Additions & Renovations Project, $44M, La Plata, MD: Project included 104,000SF of new construction and 37,000SF of renovation work. CMC was a fully functioning medical center. The hospital's administration required that no disruption to hospital operations occur during construction.

  • Conducted a constructability review of the concept design and identified problems others had not noticed. Incorporated hospital design modifications to accommodate owner's operational requirements and minimize the impact of construction to the hospital's ongoing operations. These actions prevented potential costly construction change orders and schedule delays.

  • When CMC Facilities Director found herself overloaded trying to perform her normal facilities management duties plus coordinate all the new fixtures, furnishings, and equipment (FF&E) for the project, developed a FF&E data base for her use to schedule and track all the new items that Ellerbe's Equipment Planners had specified for the project. While this task was not in Ellerbe’s contract scope, the data base kept the project on schedule for rooms dependent on medical equipment installation instructions from the selected vendor. Ellerbe required those vendor instructions to prepare and issue an Architect's Supplemental Instruction so that the contractor would know the exact locations of all utility services for new equipment before the inside walls and ceiling could be finished in those rooms.
