About:
Bruner/Cott is best known for its award-winning work in adaptive reuse. Founded in 1972, the firm works in new construction and existing buildings. Our Institutional work includes Campus Planning, with specialties in Student Amenities: Dormitories, Dining Halls, and Student Centers. In the private sector, our work is mostly urban, dealing with neighborhood revitalization, the integration of new structures into the urban fabric, and the reuse of historically significant buildings.
For over three decades, Bruner/Cott’s designs have earned national and international recognition, including two National AIA Honor Awards. We have been published over one-hundred times in many languages.
BCA encourages a participatory process, both in planning and design. Our goal is a planning and design process where we all ‘own’ the building. The diverse strengths of the firm have brought repeat work from many valued clients, among them Harvard University, MIT and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).
The integration of program and appropriate form into a cost-effective building is a common thread in all our designs. A background in adaptive reuse suggests a flexible attitude toward building style; and our affiliated development and management companies supply first-hand knowledge of the inputs for necessary for a successful building: development cost, schedule, construction budget, and the life expectancy of building systems.
Bruner/Cott’s buildings are beautiful and affordable – and they work.
