| Job Description: |
This position is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the grounds and facilities, maintenance, security and safety programs, projects and planning functions of the Akron Zoological Park. Essential job functions include general maintenance, repair, construction on buildings and animal exhibits (indoors and out), and equipment on a 50 acre facility. Construction experience (including carpentry, electrical, plumbing) and mechanical skills are required. Must be knowledgeable of all compliance standards of the accreditation and regulatory bodies and commissions related to facilities management of theme parks, zoos, etc. (OSHA, FDA, etc.). Must possess excellent supervisory, written and verbal communication skills.
College degree preferred. Prefer previous experience in working at an outdoor theme park and/or zoo. Must be physically fit to work outdoors in year round weather. Work schedule will include weekend days and holidays.
