RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS
• Has full leadership responsibility for all CHOC facilities, including design, project delivery and construction management. This includes the development of the master campus plan and related facilities plans, new business models, budgets, consultant selection, contracts, work product standards, training of in-house professionals, resolution of construction claims, system-wide policies, and cutting-edge promotion of integrated construction contracting. • Responsible for the overall management and implementation of Capital Program, including the establishment of sound financial management policies, project budgets, design, presentation of designs and budgets, bidding, construction management, inspection, and contracting of all campus construction projects. • Will direct and control the schedule, budget, infrastructure, and internal and external professional teams in the design and construction of a multi-$500 million, multi-year, multi-phase, 7-story hospital construction project, the first phase of which is scheduled for completion in 2012. • Reports to the Chief Operating Officer and serves as a member of the Executive Management Team. Works closely with the senior clinical staff, the Chief Financial Officer, external contractors and consultants, and appropriate Local and State agencies.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate will have recent and extensive experience leading the development and successful completion of a complex medical facility. The leader we seek will have a clear record of developing, inspiring and leading high performance teams; will set very high standards; establish clear objectives; and drive for results. He or she will thrive in a dynamic and complex environment and will relate well with high-energy high achievers. Persuasive, a clear and direct communicator, and an excellent problem solver, this Vice President will also build productive internal and external relationships and will serve as an effective agent of change. Prior experience in a pediatric setting is not required, but a compassion for children and for CHOC’s mission is mandatory.
