Job Description: The position has overall responsibility for the engineering/maintenance operations of the Jefferson Hotel a 99- room luxury property in Washington, D.C., with the goal of ensuring the safety and comfort of hotel guests and staff as well as compliance with all federal, and/or local regulatory and inspection requirements. The property is currently closed to guests, undergoing extensive renovations, looking to re-open the Winter of 2008.
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with corporate and local management, engineers, architects/designers regarding renovations and other projects: working with contractor and construction supervisors to ensure timely completion of projects within budget and the establishment of future maintenance commitments.
When reopened: Overseeing the daily activities of the department, communicating and enforcing hotel policies and procedures.
Educating and training staff on safety regulations and designing and implementing emergency procedures to guarantee the security of guests, employees and hotel assets.
Overseeing the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair of interior and exterior of the building. Setting up and monitoring a preventive maintenance program.
Preparing departmental budgets.
Job Requirements: Qualifications: some college or advanced vocational training plus 5-10 years experience in 4-5 star hotels, with a work history of progressive advancement and supervisory experience.
A record of promoting teamwork and providing quality service.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Solid computer skills in Word and Excel
