Description:

The Director of Environmental Services provides guidance to facilities, interfaces with local, state and federal agencies, establishes goals and objectives, develops environmental programs and audits facilities and programs for compliance and effectiveness. This position is located in the Progress Rail Corporate Office located in Albertville, AL.
Duties:
*
Manage support for facilities in multiple states and internationally
* Handle both day-to-day tactical matters and broader company-wide strategic issues
* Lead a staff of three environmental professionals
* Establish environmental goals and objectives for facilities
* Identify permitting, program and training needs, establish timetables for development and implementation, and specify expected performance targets.
* Develop and implement polices and directives for all facilities.
* Develop directives for the Corporate Environmental Program and monitor implementation at each facility.
* Audit facilities to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards and requirements.
* Provide environmental compliance due diligence for all acquisition sites.
* Conduct investigations, direct clean-up activities, and make presentations to appropriate boards.
* Ensure that acquisition sites are in compliance with regulatory standards prior to initiation of operations.
* Provide professional guidance, assistance and training to all environmental coordinators.
* Develop and maintain records and data necessary to evaluate compliance with regulatory and company standards.
* Regularly review environmental data to identify lessons learned for communication to all operations. Complete trend analyses and determine root causes for reported non-compliances.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Environmental Engineering, or related degree
* Minimum of 5 years management experience in environmental field
* Proven experience conducting environmental compliance
* Must have experience with acquisitions/mergers, providing due diligence/site evaluation for compliance
* Good presentation, communications skills a must
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels, including company executives, staff, contractors/vendors, and site personnel
* Ability to travel on demand - 30% plus travel expected
