Job Description: |
Overview:
The successful candidate must have a BS in civil/geotechnical engineering, applied geology, or geological/mining engineering, and preferably an MS in geotechnical or geological engineering, with emphasis on rock engineering, with 6 to10 years of practical experience in rock engineering. The candidate must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.), and exhibit knowledge and demonstrated project experience with the following areas:
*
rock mass characterization (structural geologic mapping, field/lab testing methods, core logging/borings, data synthesis
*
geologic hazards and engineering geology
*
blasting methodology and basic blast design
*
rock excavation design, slope stabilization design (both rock and soil) and rock foundation design
Requirements Responsibilities:
The candidate should also have greater than 5 years of rock engineering field experience, including proven experience with:
*
rock reinforcement (e.g. rock dowels, rock anchors and field testing, shotcrete, drainage)
*
rockfall protection (e.g. rockfall barriers/fences, scaling methods)
*
blasting/rock excavation field support (test blasting, blast monitoring, rock excavation methods/equipment)
*
surficial soil stabilization methods and erosion control
*
project experience with dams, highways and foundations
*
geotechnical instrumentation
Experience with the following conventional rock/slope engineering software is also required:
*
RocscienceĀ® suite (e.g. DIPS, SWEDGE, RocFall, Unwedge, RocPlane, RocLab, SLIDE, etc)
*
Rockpack
*
CRSP (Colorado Rockfall Simulation Program)
Experience must include demonstrated successful project and client management capabilities and the ability to successfully lead junior staff. Underground rock engineering experience (tunneling/trenchless) experience is preferred. Existing relationships with potential clients in the energy, utility and water/wastewater markets are a plus.
