Area Construction Manager   Employer: Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. Job Location: Los Angeles , CA Cash Compensation: Industry Type: Design Build Firms Job Description: Jacobs Engineering Group is currently seeking to add an Area Construction Manager to work on a major national rail program as part of the US Stimulus plan. This person will oversee multiple rail projects in a geographic area throughout the country. Candidates must have prior Rail Project construction experience and knowledge in one of the following fields: 1. Communications and Signals 2. Electric Traction 3. Track 4. Structures and Stations 5. Maintenance Facilities Primary responsibilities will include: * Expected to lead in a variety of tasks as needed included evaluating and correcting construction progress, review of invoice documentation and lead in remedying open issues. * Lead for the team to meet contract budget and schedule requirements in prosecuting the work and managing the construction contract. * Thorough understanding of contract terms and conditions. * Interface and coordinate with other construction contractors, engineering managers, design engineers, document control and/or administrative assistant to maintain and track various logs, reports and correspondence. * Attend progress meetings, review minutes and follow-up actions. Identify issues and resolve same. Training and Experience Basic Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position will have the following requirements: * Minimum 20 years with a solid background in heavy civil construction * 10+ yrs Prior Rail Construction Project experience * 5+ yrs Prolog Software experience * Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Equivalent preferred * Valid Driver’s license Additional Minimum Qualifications/Preferred Qualifications * Responsible for oversight/coordination of Inspection staff * Strong PC Skills, familiar in the use of Expedition or similar software and Microsoft Office * Strong time management and attention to detail * Excellent organizational skills * Willing to travel Other Essential Functions Other Requirements Needs to be physically fit in order to work on construction site, enter/exit construction temporary offices and conduct site surveys of buildings and/or tunnels. Requires ability to climb stairs, ladders and to lift light items. Candidate should be able to carry 25 lbs for a minimum of 50 feet. Requires travel and ability to be on your feet for considerable amount of day.
