Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
* Manage all aspects of accounting and processing for construction and development accounts payable, including capital expenditures
* Manage and maintain documentation and review of internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley
* Coordinate and interact with Internal Audit and external auditors as relates to construction and development activity
* Assist in implementation of accounting systems or accounting procedures and policy changes that impact the construction, development, redevelopment or capital expenditure processes
* Identify, research, resolve and document complex accounting issues within construction and/or development
* Review systems, processes and policies within the construction, development and capital expenditure areas for control improvements, efficiencies and automation opportunities
* Perform financial and operational analytics as required
* Prepare, review and/or monitor budgets for construction communities and construction and development overhead departments
* Maintain construction and development job costing and general ledger system (Timberline), including troubleshooting, administration procedures and report writing
This position will be responsible for the management of 5-7 associates in C&D Accounting and C&D Accounts Payable and will report to the VP Finance & Treasurer.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must posses a CPA and a Bachelors Degree in Accounting as well as the following:

7+ years' experience in the public (Big Four)/private accounting field.

Solid accounting background in US GAAP with an excellent understanding of the monthly closing process
*
Industry experience in real estate, home building, construction or manufacturing preferred
*
Impeccable communication skills.
*
Outstanding computer skills with strong knowledge of MS Office, Crystal Reports, and Accounting Software Packages. Knowledge of Timberline general ledger and job costing system preferred
*
Excellent understanding of the monthly closing process.
*
Proven analytical skills.
*
Proven management, leadership, organizational, and time management skills
*
Some light travel between Virginia Beach and Northern Virginia (once every two months)
