Director of Public Works   Employer: City of Glenn Heights Job Location: Glenn Heights , TX Cash Compensation: Industry Type: Building Owners Job Description: The City of Glenn Heights is currently seeking candidates for the position of Director of Public Works. This position will report to the Executive Director of Municipal Services & Planning and will be responsible for monitoring long-term plans, goals and objectives focused on achieving the City’s mission. Description of duties… The candidate will direct and evaluate the activities of superintendents and supervisors including managing and coordinating the design, construction and maintenance of water, sewer, streets, parks and building facilities. Reviews work in progress and upon completion at various work sites; advises subordinates on work methods, policies and materials; prepares estimates on construction jobs and related improvements; prepares reports and budgets; develops policies, procedures and long range plans for implementation within all Public Works departments. Prepares specifications and approves purchases; confers with appropriate staff on ordinances and policies; communicates with public and other employees; develops special reports and makes presentations in private and public meetings. Through the City Manager, advises the City Council, citizen groups, individuals, contractors and others on departmental issues; assembles necessary resources to solve a broad range of programmatic and service delivery problems in the delivery of public works and utilities services. Job Requirements Education, training, experience: Educational Requirements… Bachelor’s degree preferred in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Business or Public Administration. Ten years of progressive experience, at least six at a supervisory or management level. Accreditation in street construction and maintenance, solid waste collection, water distribution and maintenance. A minimum water and wastewater operator- Grade B certification issued by appropriate regulatory agency; Grade A preferred in all fields; and Class C Texas Drivers License with good record.
