Job Description: MWH Americas is looking for a experienced Environmental Health and Safety Director to support our U.S. operations. Significant travel will be required throughout the U.S. This position reports to executives in the Broomfield, Colorado headquarters office but the actual location of the person may be in a major office in a major city in the US.

Primary Function:

MWH Americas is an engineering firm specializing in designing water and wastewater treatment plants, dams and hydropower, conducting environmental services including site cleanup and drilling, site assessments, and construction management. As such this position requires actual experience providing support, oversight, planning and management services to these types of activities. MWH has an established environmental health and safety program but this position must be capable of developing, planning and implementing an EHS program and must be capable of providing supervision to health and safety staff in other locations. . Responsibility for U.S. Safety programs, policies and procedures. Will be expected to drive the Company's safety culture, keeping it updated and proactive.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee MWHA compliance with state and federal environmental health & safety requirements
• Develop and implement health & safety policies, procedures and processes and coordinate them with MWH Global and MWH Constructors health & safety policies and procedures as they may apply to engineering, consultant and program management environments.
• Must keep Leaders fully informed about existing (and proposed changes) to applicable standards, regulations, and client requirements.
• Identify project health & safety hazards and/or issues that may affect the public; personnel of MWH, the client, and others; and project costs/schedule. Suggest or direct action steps to control or eliminate those identified.
• Conduct or oversee project and/or process safety and health assessments.
• Generate and review project-specific safety plans.
• Conduct health & safety training for MWH and engineering / consultant subcontractor personnel. Prepare and coordinate distribution of educational and training materials.
• Coordinate and conduct training (for HAZWOPER, confined space, ergonomics, etc.) at office, project, and laboratory locations.
• Responsible for maintenance of an accurate OSHA Log and related documents/reports.
• Prepare standard reports to measure effectiveness of safety programs.
• Participate in proposal preparation (RFP support, etc.) and safety seminars.
• Participate in the drafting, audit and implementation of health & safety policies and practices for MWH operations outside of MWHA.
• Manage budgets and personnel.
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
Other Duties:
• Oversee the reporting, process, and direction of all workers’ compensation claims involving employees of MWH Global, MWH Americas and MWH Constructors.
• Act as participant of the Business Continuity Planning Committee.
• Oversee contract with medical monitoring vendor (Workcare) and provide status/feedback.
Job Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in ES&H discipline (MS Degree preferred) or related science/engineering area and a minimum of 15+ years of professional experience in an ES&H discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Board certification, in one of the ES&H disciplines by an accredited organization, is preferred. Certification as a CIH required. Certification as a CSP required or able to obtain within a 12 month period.

Experience in the following areas:
• Development of safety and health related procedures;
• Knowledge of DOE's Integrated Safety Management (ISM), OSHA, and DOE VPP Programs;
• Performing reviews that include OSHA, NEC, ANSI, NFPA, NESHAP, EPA, and DOE standards;
• Writing, implementing, and updating comprehensive environmental, safety, and health program documents;
• Conducting ES&H assessments of programs and reports
• Budgeting
Good interpersonal and communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and other computer applications. Approx. 50 + % travel
