Job Description: |
Universal Safety Response, Inc., A Smith and Wesson Company, located in Franklin, Tennessee is a turnkey provider and leader in access control, outdoor perimeter security integration and physical security solutions. Our company is growing rapidly and has an immediate need for a Manager of Engineering.
Duties include:
* Supervising engineering professionals, designers and CAD drafters; allocating and approving all staff assignments to projects and initiatives
* Establishing and manage design, production schedules, budgets and deliverables
* Staff growth, evaluation, mentoring, motivation and development
* Oversight in the preparation of reports, studies and detailed construction drawings and specifications (contract documents) that comply with all applicable building codes, design budgets and construction budgets
* Evaluating needs and developing design practices and procedures
* Developing and implementing quality standards, including graphics standards and best practices
* Conducting product research
* Working closely with project management and clients to ensure that scopes of work and budgets and schedules with tangible timelines are aligned with overall client expectations and project financial/quality goals
* Reviewing and QA/QC of mechanical designs, drawings and renderings
* Preparing probable construction costs related to mechanical designs
* Supporting sales efforts through participation in market lead generation, client contact, proposal preparation and presentations/ interviews
Requirements:
* LEED ® AP or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
* PE license mandatory at time of hire; RA in Tennessee or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire will be a non-negotiable condition of employment
* 8 to 10 years of professional engineering experience in consulting and/or construction, with sound knowledge and active participation in code review, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction document production, construction administration, consultant coordination, and client interaction
* 7+ years experience directly managing mechanical staff
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD Revit; Microstation/BIM a strong plus
Education:
* Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (BSE) required. Master of Science degree in engineering (MSE) a plus.
Other Required Skills:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; impressive presentation skills a strong plus
* Must be confident and comfortable interacting with and presenting to clients and selection panels
* Capability to work effectively with external and internal clients, and diverse project teams; capacity to be viewed as a technically proficient engineer by staff, co-workers, peers and clients is a must
* Successful experience working directly with in-house project managers, architects and civil, structural, and electrical engineers
