RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President, Risk Management, will be responsible for directing all risk management functions of Madison Square Garden, Inc., one of the world’s leading sports, entertainment and media companies located in New York City. He/she will manage, negotiate and evaluate all Casualty, Property, Financial and Entertainment/Sports Team specialty insurances to achieve the optimum balance between risk and cost, recognizing statutory and contractual requirements. Additionally the VP will
§ Manage and direct settlement of all claims and insurance related litigation
§ Interface on implementation of policies, procedures, and training for all safety, loss prevention and environmental issues
§ Function as senior advisor to senior corporate and operational management on policy issues that have risk/safety implications
§ Direct all insurance placements, risk analytics and claims management of a planned Madison Square Garden, Inc. Construction Renovation Project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Four year college degree, advanced MBA/MA degree desirable, ARM/CPCU preferred
§ Progressive work history with a minimum 10-12 years experience in the Property/Casualty insurance forum whether in an insurance company, brokerage firm or corporate risk management department.
§ Additional 5-7 years in a corporate risk management position as senior risk management officer and experience interfacing with a Corporate Safety Department.
§ Extensive claims and litigation management skills needed to provide direct monitoring of insurance carrier and defense counsel operations in order to ensure the most cost effective and prudent settlement of insurance claims.
§ Progressive work history that shows upward career mobility, drive and excellent team building & management skills.
§ Strong communication skills (written and oral) and ability to establish and foster intra-departmental and inter-company relationships with all levels of management as well as with outside clients.
§ Ability to multi-task, analyze and solve problems.
