| Company Description: |
AMEC is an international project management and services company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. With office networks across the Americas, Continental Europe and Asia, AMEC manages projects worldwide. It generated annual revenues of US $8.4 billion in 2003 and employs 45,000 people in over 40 countries. AMEC employs more than 3400 staff in 78 offices across Canada, including major offices in Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Montreal, St. We design, deliver and support our customers, investments in capital assets and process plant to oil and gas facilities. We offer life-of-asset support by which we mean we look after a customer`s investment from beginning to end. Working with our customers from the very start of their investment, we can help develop the initial concept, plan funding and add value from the initial concepts through to detailed designs. When it comes to delivering the asset, we can project manage the delivery, taking care of procurement and relationships with contractors as well as actual commissioning. Once the asset is commissioned, we offer long-term care and support services, from maintenance to specialist support services such as energy efficiency audits or environmental testing. And at the end of the asset's life, we can help shut it down safely. Throughout the process, we add value by providing services like operator training, regulatory and environmental advice and business consultancy. We also offer a wide range of technical services tailored to the needs of a particular industry or customer, for instance providing oil and gas simulation models or food processing control systems. At AMEC we employ a wide range of talented people - from scientists and environmental consultants to engineers and project managers. They advise our clients on everything from front end engineering design ?? through regulatory and environmental compliance, to project management and delivery. We work in diverse and often challenging environments, from sub-zero temperatures in the north of Canada to the heat of the Arabian Gulf. Our scale and scope mean that whatever the territory or the technical challenges, we will have the experience to help. A health and safety discipline is fundamental to our culture and runs through everything we do. Safe delivery is an important part of the AMEC promise. But safe delivery goes beyond health and safety concerns. Working on customers valuable assets, we have to take responsibility for their investment, treating our customers risk and reputation as our own. This has led us to build long-term relationships or partnerships with customers, which usually last over many years. Often, our customers are totally integrated with our organisation, working in our offices alongside our people, as one team. The assets we look after often last for decades. To deliver value for money to our clients over this lifetime, we have to plan for the future from the very beginning of a contract. We also have to consider the long-term impact of what we do on other groups of stakeholders and on the community and environment. Our sustainability programme, which runs right across the company commits us to progress not just against commercial achievements but also against broader objectives such as behaving ethically and respecting community concerns. We believe that we can only grow and succeed in the long term if we consider the long-term interests of all our stakeholders. By taking their needs into account, we ensure a healthy partnership with them and so safeguard our own future. |
