To assist and participate in their winning development, they are looking to add a VP of IT to their senior team.

Purpose of Position

The key role is responsible for formulating IT vision and strategy driven by business strategy and objectives; technical problem-solving and solution development; ensuring that implemented technical solutions achieve their intended objectives; and ensuring that the return on IT investments is realized as planned. As the primary representative of technology at the executive level, the VP is an interpreter of business requirements and technology issues, and serves as a bridge between the technology experts and business leaders. The VP also ensures reliability of the various systems and networks, as well as provision of adequate support to all users, including those working in the field / in remote locations nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

- Develops innovative technology and system-based solutions to drive efficiency and effectiveness across all lines of business, encompassing business analysis, hardware and systems infrastructure, development and project management.

- Works with executive team to develop long term strategic direction, planning, and budgeting for the IT function. Develops the IT resource plan to support business initiatives.

- Leads a team of approximately 35-40 IT professionals, including five direct reports responsible for the areas of IT business systems infrastructure, service desk support, contract administration, development, and our Enterprise Project Office, including:

- Providing guidance and direction in setting clear, measurable objectives and holding team members accountable for delivering on objectives.

- Providing ongoing coaching and feedback to facilitate the growth and development of direct reports (and the entire IT team) in both technical expertise and business acumen.

- Ensuring that a customer-focused and operations-centric mandate is instilled throughout the IT organization, by hiring the right people into the right roles, properly training and coaching our people, having appropriate objectives in place, ensuring people are engaged and motivated, providing regular performance feedback and career coaching, and appropriately managing performance issues as they arise.

- Has overall accountability for planning of short- and long-range technology strategies to support business goals.

- Maintains a current working knowledge of IT best practices and innovative solutions. Assesses new and emerging technologies to determine applicability to company programs and services. Identifies and evaluates new technology developments and gauges applicability to business processes.

- Recommends, develops, integrates, administers, and evaluates policies, procedures, and standards needed to provide flexible and cost-effective IT services (particularly related to Asset Management, Web Services, Software Development Life Cycle, Technology Refreshment, and Solution Architecture).

- Solves IT business issues while managing IT costs and risks. Provides IT and solution consulting to business leaders across business units.

- Partners with fellow business leaders to define, prioritize, and develop strategic technology and business systems initiatives. Ensures delivery of sustainable technology solutions that deliver value and innovation for our customers and business team members.

- Provides leadership in appropriate technology usage. Develops, recommends, influences, and evaluates technology support, infrastructure operation, custom applications, and governing policies. Creates internal controls, policies and procedures as well as disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans.


Qualifications

- 15+ years’ progressively senior IT experience, with a minimum of 3-5 years leading a comparably-sized and comparably diverse IT function (or “second in command”). Relevant post-secondary education.

- Sound knowledge of and experience with IT governance, process, and controls, ideally through a recognized discipline (e.g. Six Sigma, ITIL)

- Must have ERP background, a broader experience in IT dealing with sophisticated systems, heavy in operations and maintenance and a solid understanding of 24X7 operating model

- Relevant experience with Oracle EnterpriseOne (JDEdwards) is preferred.

- Forward thinker with the ability to identify the next level, and methodically map out a plan to get to the next level

- Must be the “enabler” to facilitate all IT initiatives
