HNTB Corporation's highway services range from designing major interstates with complex interchanges to rehabilitating rural roadways and bridges. The firm achieves a balance among design, budget, schedule and aesthetic concerns to ensure that highway programs are compatible and economical for the communities they serve. HNTB optimizes designs for two-lane, multilane and limited-access projects by carefully studying community, environmental, geotechnical, hydrological and materials factors in the preliminary design phase. HNTB's experts overcome the challenges to find the best design solutions. HNTB has an opening for a high energy Project Manager specializing in Freeway to Freeway interchanges and/or urban corridors in its Michigan Office. This position could be located in either Detroit or East Lansing.
The responsibilities of this position are:
* Manage budgets, schedules and deliverables, carrying the project through to final plans.
* Assist with the marketing pursuits, including client meetings and proposal input.
* Lead, manage and mentor engineers.
* Develop plans, specifications, and provide reports; confirm tasks are complete, accurate and in accordance with good engineering practice.
* Assemble and analyze all risk associated with complex projects and assist in developing mitigation plans that minimize these risks.
* Prepare reports and presentations to communicate project goals and status to both the client and the general public.
* Participate in strategic business planning & development
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have:
* Strong relationships with MDOT
* Familiarity with MDOT (or other DOT) standards and procedures
The qualified candidate will have:
* 20+ years of civil engineering experience, focusing in developing roadway plans
* Strong leadership in design and construction of highways
* Successfully managed projects design and/or construction projects up to $100 million dollars in construction costs
* Professional Engineering registration, or ability to obtain registration, in Michigan
* Strong communication skills required with the ability to research projects and maintain open communication with clients.
* Talent in creatively solving challenging transportation design problems.
